Welcome From The Editor

April 2, 2024

Welcome to the April 2024 edition of spectra magazine.

The last edition of spectra was released October 2023. That’s a long time between issues. I joined the National Office at the end of August and saw first-hand how staff turnover (even before I arrived) had made establishing a publication schedule difficult.

We have one now. spectra will be released quarterly, so expect the next issue to arrive July, then October, then January 2025.

The online design of this issue is pretty much the same as the October 2023 edition, but with two major changes: (1) we tried to be more deliberate about the information on our side panels and (2) we’re trying to incorporate more graphics into some of the stories.

The content for spectra used to be primarily driven by researchers, educators, and professionals in the field, and that’s a goal I’d like to reach by the end of this year. Starting next edition, we’re going to have at least one guest feature. If you’re interested in writing for the magazine on a topic germane to the field, please reach out at spectra@natcom.org

It’s going to take a while to build the readership of this magazine back, but if you’re reading this, thank you for taking the time to explore.

Enjoy the read!
