Spotlight: Maria Cray

Audience Development Manager, Terrapinn

About

During the summer of 2021, Maria Cray interned as the Audience Development Manager at Terrapinn. Cray helped in the execution of, online marketing for, and audience development for a supply chain industry event called Home Delivery World, one of Terrapinn’s U.S. events. Cray gained experience in conference production, sponsorship sales, and event marketing.

Multimedia Marketing Intern for Comedy Works, Denver, Colorado

About

During the 2021 summer semester, Alexa Ganzeveld worked as a Multimedia Marketing Intern for Comedy Works, a comedy club in Denver, Colorado. Ganzeveld promoted upcoming comedy performances on social media; wrote press releases, blog posts, radio spot, and email newsletters; created Facebook and Instagram ads; and tracked social media metrics with Google Analytics.

About

During the summer of 2021, Claire Alfree interned at Hearst Television’s Washington News Bureau. Alfree’s day-to-day responsibilities included coordinating reporter live shots, news feed, and video materials for news packages; booking satellite time and interviews while assisting with breaking news needs; and producing the weekly show, Friday Feed, which aired at all 26 Hearst stations. In August 2021, following the internship, Alfree joined Hearst Television as a Production Assistant. 

Alfree secured the internship with the help of the Emma Bowen Foundation, an organization that focuses on supporting people of color to help improve media representation. While living in Washington, D.C., Claire was a part of The Fund for American Studies, a nonprofit that trains young journalists and other high-achieving college leaders for the workplace. 
 

Spotlight: Dan Allender West

Dan Allender West

Social Media Coordinator, Pearce and Partners Therapy Solutions

About

During the summer of 2021, Dan Allender West interned at Pearce and Partners Therapy Solutions as a social media coordinator and was responsible for content creation under the guidance of the managing partner of the practice. West created two to three social media posts per week on Facebook aimed at humanizing the organization, increasing awareness of therapy resources, and promoting causes that are important to the organization's leadership.

About

During the summer of 2021, Ella Ferrin was a marketing and communications intern for M.C. Dean, an integrated systems and design-build engineering firm in Tysons, Virginia. Ferrin researched tools to better communicate with field employees, worked on design projects including designing and implementing a corporate email signature, and developed internal and social media content.

About

During the summer of 2021, Esteban Reina-Soto was a news intern with WCBD-TV, the NBC affiliate news station for Charleston, SC. Reina-Soto recorded television segments in both English and Spanish, wrote news articles, edited television news footage, assisted with scripting for television, and pitched news stories.

About

Griffin Della Penna is currently interning at Pegula Sports & Entertainment in the Media and Content Department for the Buffalo Sabres (professional ice hockey) and Bandits (professional box lacrosse). Della Penna also has experience in sports broadcasting for Canisius College Athletics and the Batavia Muckdogs, a collegiate summer baseball team.

About

In August 2021, Helena Buttons became the Coordinator for SHOP (Students Helping Oz Peers), a food and clothing pantry located on-campus at SUNY Oswego to serve students, faculty, and staff who suffer from food insecurity. Buttons is the manager of the pantry and organizes logistics, advertising, marketing, and events. Buttons also supervises two employees: the Volunteer Management Intern and the SHOP Assistant.

Isabella "Izzy" Wachtel

About

During the summer of 2021, Isabella “Izzy” Wachtel was a Production Intern at Translation LLC in Brooklyn, New York. Wachtel covered production on all AT&T related projects and created a rebrand presentation in collaboration with other interns. Following the internship, Wachtel joined the staff of Killer Films as Development Intern. She now works as an Assistant Producer at Piro and will continue there full time upon graduation.

About

In December 2020, James Di Pinto began working as a writer and as on-screen talent for 59 Gaming, a YouTube channel that shares content about video games. Di Pinto develops video content about Dragon Ball Legends and other aspects of the video game industry under a pseudonym.

Lindsey Elena Cottle

Highlight Videographer, Pine Cove Outback

About

During the summer of 2021, Lindsey Cottle served as a Highlight Videographer for Pine Cove Outback, a Christian summer camp for middle schoolers in Columbus, Texas. Cottle shot footage on a DSLR Canon camera, edited the footage, and uploaded content directly to the Pine Cove CampLife App. Cottle produced and presented one 10-minute video per week over a five-week period.

During the summer of 2021, Samantha Brachman interned as a Virtual Multimedia Intern at Henry Schein. Brachman edited videos and projects in Adobe Premiere, scheduled and distributed media and videos on the company's social media handles and on the Wistia website, compiled analytics on Microsoft Excel, and collaborated with the multimedia team to develop media content ideas.

About

From March to June 2021, Sophia Castro interned virtually for the nonprofit Libraries Without Borders (LWB US), which works worldwide to promote equitable access to information and education. As a Research and Design Intern, Castro worked on a variety of projects, including collaborating with the Authority Health team to create an interactive resource guide for underserved health-illiterate communities.

About

During the summer of 2021, Veronica Giron interned in the Communications Department of Volunteers of America (VOA), a national nonprofit organization that serves more than 1.5 million people each year. This was Giron’s third internship with VOA. Giron had previously interned in the Meeting and Event Planning Department. Giron created content for VOA’s internal newsletter, worked on an intern page for the national website, collaborated with staff on new directions and venues for marketing, and managed the nationwide social media project “A Day in the Life at VOA.”
