How to Download the NCA Convention App:
- For iOS users, visit the App or Google Play Store and search for NCA 2024. Tap on “Download” or “Install” to get the app on your device or
- Click here.
Once installed, open the app and enter your email (used when registering for the convention), accept the Terms & Conditions, and click “Open Email”. Please note that for optimal experience, please build your itinerary after you’ve logged in.
If you require assistance with the app, there will be a mobile app support desk in the Exhibit Hall across from registration.

Stop by the NCA Hub in the Exhibit Hall, meet NCA staff, and pick up some new NCA swag! Don’t forget to enter the raffle – you may win the grand prize, an all-expense paid trip to Denver in 2025.

- NCA Website Redesign Sandbox: Test drive the new website that will launch in 2025! Patrick West, NCA’s Web and Digital Media Associate, will be on-site to share our redesigned site’s sandbox (beta) version at the NCA Hub!
- Communication Connection: Match & Remember: New this year! NCA-themed memory match game! You can access the game from your mobile phone by scanning the QR code (available at the Hub and on signage throughout the exhibit hall). Daily prizes will be given to the top scorer, so after you finish playing, check your app, email, or stop by the Hub to get updates on the daily leaderboard.
- Headshot Lounge: Don’t forget to visit our Headshot Lounge, open on Thursday and Friday during exhibit hall hours. Get a professional headshot taken to update your profile and make a lasting impression by recording video testimonials regarding your experience with NCAs programs, products, and services!
EXHIBIT HALL:
The Exhibit Hall is home to publishers, software vendors, educational product vendors, and other discipline-related associations. You can spend your time connecting with vendors, checking out the latest publications in the field, and connect with colleagues.
Full Exhibit Hall hours are:
- Wednesday, November 20, 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
- Thursday, November 21, 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Friday, November 22, 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Some of the activities include:
- Graduate School Open House: Join us for the Graduate School Open House, sponsored by Bedford St. Martin’s/Macmillan Learning, taking place on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Explore various programs and meet representatives from different institutions to gather information about your future educational opportunities.
- Career Fair: Make sure to attend our Career Fair on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., where you can connect with potential employers and explore job opportunities. Bring your resume or obtain assistance in getting one prepared and be ready to network!
The Exhibit Hall is located on the 3rd floor of the Marriott in Grand Ballroom. An index of exhibitors can be found online and in the app.

HBCU Communication Pipeline Program
|
|
|
The Communication Pipeline Program recruits a dozen or more fellows each year from Historically Black Colleges and Universities. These fellows matriculate through a year-long program, during which they become acquainted with the intricacies of graduate school and a career in Communication.
Pipeline, a groundbreaking documentary, captures a transformative pilot program empowering aspiring doctoral students from HBCUs to pursue advanced degrees and careers in the professoriate.

NCA’s Partnership with the New Orleans CYPB
|
|
|
Through communication and qualitative research, NCA’s Activism and Social Justice Division has partnered with the New Orleans Children and Youth Planning Board (CYPB) to address critical youth-centered issues like food insecurity and mental healthcare.
During this panel, CYPB members will share space with NCA members to discuss the results of this multi-year partnership, in which youth were trained in documentary filmmaking and qualitative data collection and analysis to effectively and efficiently survey and/or interview local youth and community members.

NCA’s Committee on International Discussion and Debate (CIDD) promotes international understanding and the practice of communication through discussion and debates between students from the United States and other nations.
Currently, two students from the British Debate Association are traveling the country holding exhibition debates at eight institutions. The tour culminates at the Annual Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Election Slate Announced
This December, members will be asked to vote in the NCA election. The Nominating Committee and the Leadership Development Committee developed a slate of candidates for the December 2024 election. Members will be asked to elect a Second Vice President, At-Large Representatives of the Legislative Assembly, the Leadership Development Committee, and the Nominating Committee.
Balloting for the election will open on Tuesday, December 3, at 9 a.m. Pacific Time and will close on Tuesday, December 31, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time.
