Hotel Policies & Additional Information

Student Rates

Only available to registered NCA student members, whose membership extends through December 1 or later. Limit: One room per student. Reservations made by non-student members, unregistered guests, or requests for additional rooms will be cancelled. These rooms go fast—book early!

Deposit Policy

A first-night room deposit or major credit card guarantee is required for all reservations. A credit card is required at check-in to cover remaining room costs, and a minimum of $65 per night hold will be placed for incidental charges. Any unused funds will be refunded upon check-out.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations made less than 72 hours before arrival will result in a forfeit of one night’s room and tax. To cancel your reservation, use the booking link or contact the hotel directly. Remember to get your cancellation number!

Check-In and Check-Out

Check-in time is 4:00 p.m. | Check-out time is 11:00 a.m.

Late Arrival Policy

If arriving after midnight, contact the hotel directly so they can note your reservation and plan for late arrival. Failure to notify the hotel may result in reservation cancellation and a no-show fee.

Early Departure & No-show Fees

• Early Departure: Notify the hotel at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a fee (one night’s room + tax)
• No-Show: Will result in one night’s charge and may cancel your reservation.

Accessibility Considerations for New Orleans

New Orleans features historic architecture that may present accessibility challenges. Cobblestone streets, uneven sidewalks, and narrow pathways are common in the French Quarter and surrounding historic areas. While our convention hotels meet ADA requirements and provide accessible accommodations, please be aware that navigating some areas of the city may be challenging for those using mobility devices.

Transportation from Key Locations 

From Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) 

• Distance: ~16 miles (approximately 20-30 minutes depending on traffic) 
• Taxi: $35-45 flat rate to downtown (+$14 for three or more passengers; $1 per bag fee) 
• Ride Share: ~$36-45. Options include Uber, Lyft, and KreweCar. Pick-up location: Level 1 outside of baggage claim 
• Public Transit: Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) Airport Express (Route 202) travels from the airport terminals to Elk Place at Canal Street in Downtown New Orleans. Fare: $1.50. Getting Around New Orleans During Your Stay 

New Orleans offers several convenient transportation options: 

• Streetcars: New Orleans iconic streetcar lines include the St. Charles Avenue line and Canal Street line. Fare: $1.50 per ride. This is a scenic and authentic way to explore the city. 
• Walking: The French Quarter and downtown areas are highly walkable. However, be aware of uneven sidewalks, cobblestones, and historic street conditions. Comfortable, sturdy walking shoes are strongly recommended. 
• Ride-Share: Uber, Lyft, and local services are widely available throughout the convention area. 

Special Considerations for New Orleans 

Sea Level and Flooding Awareness 

New Orleans sits at a very low elevation, with much of the city at or below sea level (average elevation ranges from 1-2 feet below sea level to about 6 feet above). This unique geography makes the city particularly vulnerable to flooding during heavy rainfall or storms. 

 What this means for visitors: 

• The city has an extensive levee and drainage system in place 
• November is outside of hurricane season (June 1 – November 30), and late November typically has lower storm risk 
• If you have mobility concerns related to uneven terrain or are sensitive to humidity, please be aware that the flat, low-lying terrain combined with moisture can affect some visitors 
• The convention hotels are in the elevated downtown/French Quarter area, which is on higher ground 

November Weather 

In late November, the average temperature in New Orleans ranges from highs of 71-72°F to lows of 51-53°F. The city maintains moderate humidity levels even in November, and rainfall averages approximately 4 inches for the month. 

 What to Pack: Layers are essential—bring long pants, t-shirts, sweaters, a light jacket or scarf, and comfortable walking shoes. We strongly recommend packing an umbrella or light rain jacket for occasional showers. 

New Orleans Travel Tips 

Footwear: Historic streets feature cobblestones and uneven surfaces. Comfortable, sturdy walking shoes are essential for exploring the city. 

Humidity: Even in November, New Orleans retains humidity. If you have respiratory sensitivities, consider bringing any necessary medications. 

Tipping Culture: New Orleans has a strong service industry culture. Standard tipping of 15-20% is expected and appreciated in restaurants, bars, and for services. 

Public Drinking: Unlike most U.S. cities, New Orleans allows drinking alcohol in public in certain areas. However, beverages must be in plastic containers—no glass is permitted on the streets. 

Safety: While tourist areas are generally safe during the day, use normal urban precautions and stay aware of your surroundings, especially at night. Stay in well-lit, populated areas.
