
Monica Yang is the governance and strategic initiatives manager at the National Communication Association, where she supports association-wide governance, strategic planning, leadership development, national awards and affiliate relations. She works closely with NCA’s elected leaders, volunteer committees, councils and staff to strengthen organizational infrastructure, improve governance processes, and develop meaningful opportunities for member leadership and engagement. Her work includes leading strategic planning initiatives, managing the annual national awards program, supporting NCA’s leadership development efforts, and developing tools and resources to strengthen volunteer leadership.
Prior to joining the NCA, Yang served as a program coordinator at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, where she developed public programs and professional learning opportunities that connected artists, educators and communities through art. Across her career, she has focused on building equitable systems, managing complex cross-functional projects, and creating programs that expand access and opportunity.
Yang holds a bachelor’s degree in education studies from Brown University, where she helped establish the Undocumented, First-Generation College and Low-Income Student Center. She brings more than 10 years of experience in project management, organizational development, education equity and member engagement.
