NCA 106th Annual Convention Update

NCA Convention
November 2, 2020

The NCA 106th Annual Convention promises to be unlike any other in our history. This year’s theme, “Communication at the Crossroads,” was selected to provide special opportunities to examine and discuss future directions for research, teaching, and the Communication discipline itself.

As a reminder, while the convention is free to all NCA members whose membership is current through December 1, registration is required to view and access content. If you have not registered, please do so today on the Registration Information webpage.

Please take a moment to view our Virtual Convention Welcome and Orientation video, which features a welcome from the NCA officers, a description of what attendees can look forward to this year, information on how to create your convention schedule in NCA Convention Central, and instructions on how to view both live and on-demand session content.

All NCA annual events will take place this year. The NCA Opening Session, Mental Health at the Crossroads: Intersections in Health and Society, will take place on Thursday, November 19, at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Dr. Thomas K. Nakayama will present the Carroll C. Arnold Distinguished Lecture, “The Challenge of Global Whiteness,” on Friday, November 20, at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time. NCA President Dr. Kent A. Ono will deliver the presidential address, “Civic Activism and Social Justice: Leading NCA As/Through Change,” on Saturday, November 21, at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Dr. Ono’s address will be followed by the presentation of NCA’s 2020 awards.

The Graduate School Open House will be available throughout November. The NCA Career Center will include three dynamic PrepTalk presentations, held throughout November, as well as the Job Fair and CV Consulting. A virtual Exhibit Hall will be held on Thursday, November 19, and Friday, November 20, and will feature a mix of both live and on-demand content developed by this year’s exhibitors. Search “Exhibit Hall” later this month in the online program on NCA Convention Central for more information.
