African Communication Studies Division

Divisions

Overview

Proposal

The African Communication Studies Division provides a scholarly home for researchers, educators, and practitioners engaging with the diverse communication traditions, practices, and theories rooted in the African continent. Addressing the lack of a dedicated space within NCA for African-centered scholarship, the division fosters community, mentorship, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Aligned with NCA’s goals of inclusivity and global engagement, it centers African epistemologies and welcomes work on topics such as resistance, diaspora, health, media, gender, and identity. Through accessible platforms and inclusive leadership, the division supports early-career scholars and advances the field by uplifting African perspectives.
