NCA Mid-Career Scholar’s Writing Retreat
The deadline for the 2017 NCA Mid-Career Scholar’s Writing Retreat is January 12. Eight selected participants will join facilitators Michelle Miller-Day and Tamara Afifi for a June 26-30 workshop to be held at Chapman University in Orange, CA. This retreat is specifically targeted to faculty members who hold the rank of Associate Professor and are seeking to make significant progress toward the completion of an in-progress writing project. NCA Doctoral Honors Seminars
The NCA Doctoral Honors Seminars (DHS) bring together promising doctoral students and distinguished faculty members from across the discipline and around the nation to discuss current topics in Communication. Participants in the DHS are chosen based on submitted papers and recommendations from their advisors. The 2017 DHS will be held July 27-30 at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, OH. The theme for the 2017 DHS is “Communication in a Post-Truth Age.” Learn more.
NCA Institute for Faculty Development
The NCA Institute for Faculty Development, also known as the “Hope Conference,” provides undergraduate Communication faculty members opportunities to solicit feedback on scholarship, to build collaborative research and pedagogical relationships, to learn about new directions in theory and pedagogy, and to develop new course area expertise. The 2017 conference will be held July 23-29 at Denison University in Granville, OH. Seminar leaders will include Michael Butterworth (Ohio University), Laura Ellingson (Santa Clara University), Lisa Flores (University of Colorado-Boulder), Jody Koenig Kellas (University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Charles E. Morris III (Syracuse University), and Teresa Thompson (University of Dayton). The Scholar-in-Residence will be Raymie McKerrow (Ohio University). Learn more.
