NCA Holds Undergraduate Honors Conference
In May NCA held its four-day Undergraduate Honors Conference in Washington, DC, to assist undergraduates with current research and post-graduate plans, and to provide opportunities for interaction between students and scholars in Communication. Students from around the country were paired with mentors whose areas of expertise aligned with the students’ research interests. The keynote speaker was Patrick Delaney, Communications Director for the American Soybean Association’s policy wing, who drew on his experience in multiple media and advocacy environments to provide students with insight into the training needed to enter several communication specialties. The conference also included panel sessions on rhetoric and politics; family and gender communication; organizational and cultural communication and literature; and health communication and media. Poster sessions by students were followed by a trip to the Newseum and a discussion about workforce and graduate school preparation.
