Celebrating and Remembering: NCA Memorial Session

At the Annual Convention in New Orleans, we will honor the memory of NCA members who have passed away in the year since the prior convention. Friends and colleagues are encouraged to join us to celebrate those individuals' service, friendship, and contributions to the Communication discipline. The session will provide time for brief personal tributes to scholars and then will include an open invitation for those in attendance to share stories, memories, and experiences. All former NCA members whose obituary has been shared in COMMNotes since the 107th Annual Convention in Seattle will be recognized. The Memorial Session will provide an opportunity for the entire NCA community to gather and remember those who have passed in the last year. Efforts are underway to make the 2022 memorial panel an especially meaningful and impactful event.

Please send any obituaries for those you would like memorialized to COMMNotes (see https://www.natcom.org/academic-professional-resources/commnotes for submission procedures).

Note that due to equity considerations, the practice of the First Vice President (1st VP) considering accommodation requests for individual memorial sessions under the 1st VP slots will not be the practice for the 2022 convention. All members who would like to propose an individual memorial session must do so through the unit-relevant call for submissions process. As a result of this policy, individual memorial sessions for those who pass away after the March 30th submission deadline (and before the start of the convention) will be delayed until the next year’s convention.
