Grants Information
This
section contains information on our six program areas and our Venture
Fund, which supports independent projects that take an interdisciplinary
approach to broad issues of significant interest or concern. It also
contains a frequently asked questions section and information about
applying for a grant.
Culture
The Culture program aims to assure that our nation's cultural resources
are properly sustained and contribute to the health of our democratic
society.
Education
The Education program seeks to raise the performance of students at all
levels of education, especially the capabilities of students to learn for
understanding and to acquire the literacies needed for productive
employment and effective citizenship in our increasingly complex
society.
Environment
The Environment program aims to promote policies and practices that
protect the global atmosphere and preserve healthy forest and marine
ecosystems.
Health and Human Services
The Health and Human Services program is designed to promote the health
and well-being of the American people and to strengthen disadvantaged
communities.
Public Policy
The Public Policy program advances and helps sustain improvements in
America's democratic life by strengthening the foundations of civic
engagement and rebuilding Americans' confidence in government and the
basic democratic process, primarily elections.
Religion
The Religion program seeks to advance a deeper understanding of religion's
contribution to the ideas, beliefs, morals and institutions that shape
culture and society, and to help people of faith improve their efforts to
make a positive contribution to contemporary public life.
Venture Fund
The Venture Fund is a unique investment tool for the Trusts, enabling us
to explore opportunities that fall outside the clearly defined goals and
objectives of the six program areas.
