The Henry J. Kaiser
Family Foundation (http://www.kff.org/)
offers Media Fellowships in Health to provide support for journalists and
editors interested in issues related to health policy, health financing,
and public health.
The Kaiser Media
Fellowships in Health for 2002 will award up to six fellowships to provide
journalists with opportunities to pursue individual projects combined with
group briefings and site visits on a wide range of health and social
policy issues. The program will offer an annual stipend of $55,000
(prorated for length of actual fellowship). Travel for research purposes
is also available. (Deadline: March 8, 2002)
In 2001, the Kaiser Media
Fellowships Program is offering up to fifteen mini-fellowships to
encourage in-depth reporting on public health and health policy issues by
providing journalists with travel and research support to complete a
specific project for publication or broadcast. Typically, grants are
$5,000 each (up to $10,000 for broadcast projects). Priority is given to
projects other- wise unlikely to be undertaken or completed, with a focus
on issues that have not been covered or are underreported and which have a
high likelihood of being published/aired and of reaching a mass audience.
(Deadline: October 12, 2001)

Foundation Web site for information on submitting materials for these
