NCA Grant Money Available

Advancing the Discipline is the theme for a new $20,000 NCA fund available to all members. Individuals or groups can submit proposals for up to $5,000 in one-time grant monies to fund a project. The project has broad goals and leaves to the NCA membership the task of developing proposals that will result in significant gains for the discipline. The deadline for applications will be April 1 of each year.

The NCA Finance Board initiated the fund as a way of ensuring that all members will have the opportunity to receive NCA funding. The Board had been fielding a variety of requests for funding across the fiscal year. It has regularized the application process, with a single due date. The creation of the fund will also mean that all members are aware of the Association’s process and the opportunity to seek NCA funding. The NCA Executive Committee unanimously approved the fund.

The Finance Board designed the fund to attract as many proposals as possible. Limitations apply primarily to the funding mechanism. Funding will be for one-time only. It cannot be used to augment existing NCA budgets or for NCA convention-related activity. Proposed projects should reach beyond a single department or campus and a single NCA unit.

The goal is to support projects that are very likely to advance the discipline. For example, proposals might focus upon publicizing the research to a wider audience, mentoring newcomers into the discipline, retaining NCA members diversifying or internationalizing the discipline. A subcommittee of the Executive Committee will review proposals.

Funding Requests and Grant Application 
Funding requests for projects that help advance the Association's Strategic Plan must be submitted to the Finance Board using the funding request form. All proposals are reviewed under specific process and evalutation criteria. Download the form
