Kathleen Glenister Roberts (Ph.D., Indiana University-Bloomington) is Director of the University Honors College and the Office of National Fellowships at Duquesne University. She graduated from the University of Richmond’s honors college as a University Scholar and then earned an M.A. at the University of Notre Dame. A year of volunteer teaching in the Samoan islands preceded her Ph.D. work at Indiana University-Bloomington. She has taught at Duquesne University, primarily in Communication & Rhetorical Studies, since 2001 and was Director of the Communication Ethics Institute from 2004-2006 and Director of the University Core Curriculum from 2008-2011.
Roberts is the author of Alterity & Narrative (SUNY Press, 2007), which won the International/Intercultural Communication Book of the Year Award from the National Communication Association. She has also written numerous essays, the most recent of which appears in Critical Studies in Media Communication. She has been an International Folklore Fellow, a PFF Teaching Fellow, and the recipient of numerous awards for scholarship and teaching, including Duquesne’s Presidential Scholarship Award.
