2003 Chapter of the Year
Award
Alpha Xi, The College of
New Jersey
The Alpha Xi Chapter of
Lambda Pi Eta at The College of New Jersey has demonstrated exceptional
innovation and quality in executing the goals of Lambda Pi Eta.
The
professional and scholastic commitment put forth by the members of Alpha Xi
indeed sets a tremendous example.
Alpha Xi has encouraged and
enhanced support for the development of strong professional skills. They have
done this by organizing career nights, resume building workshops, implementing
an internship binder, and developing an alumni database. In supporting the
goals of Lambda Pi Eta, Alpha Xi has sponsored annual forums, scholarship
brunches, and research seminar discussions. Additionally, Alpha Xi continues to
encourage students to discuss graduate school possibilities with faculty
regarding a wide range of graduate opportunities in communication. They
continually take an active role in fostering student-faculty engagement. Five of
the last seven national presidents of Lambda Pi Eta have been Alpha Xi chapter
members. The enthusiasm the Alpha Xi chapter members put forth is to be
commended.

Adviser of the Year Award
Dr. John Pollock, Alpha
Xi, The College of New Jersey
Over the past year, Dr. John Pollock has worked hard to
sponsor events and activities to create a strong rapport between communication
students and faculty. He has dedicated his time, energy and service to his
chapter members. As a chapter adviser, he has manifested and successfully
executed the goals of Lambda Pi Eta by encouraging his students to pursue
further education, excel academically and professionally, and by stimulating
interest in the field of communication. As a professor, Dr. Pollock has made
himself available as a resource for current, past, and future students. His
dedication to his work and that of his students is truly commendable. Dr.
Pollock has assisted his chapter in programming graduate school fairs, academic
research panels, career nights, and scholarship brunches. Additionally, he
promotes events to his students and his fellow faculty to ensure the success and
recognition of his chapter. The admiration he receives from his chapter allows
him to serve as a role model for other chapter advisers.
