In addition to the NCA Annual Convention, NCA hosts programs and other meetings across a variety of topics, but with the unifying goal of advancing the communication discipline. These meetings are official events, sponsored by NCA.

A national gathering of the humanities community who engage in an annual conversation on the state of the humanities and make their voices heard on Capitol Hill.

The Committee on International Discussion and Debate (CIDD) — Dates TBA
CIDD promotes international understanding and the practice of communication through discussion and debates between students from the United States and other nations.

NCA Undergraduate Honors Conference — May 16-19, 2013
The Undergraduate Honors Conference prepares rising seniors to complete their senior year capstone projects; held on the campus of American University in Washington, D.C.

The 12th Biennial Conference on Communication and Environment - June 6-10, 2013
Organized under the auspices of the International Environmental Communication Association (IECA), the 2013 COCE conference will take place in Uppsala, Sweden.

NCA Chairs' Summer Institute — June 28-30, 2013
NCA's Second Annual Chairs' Summer Institute will be held at the St. Gregory Hotel in Washington, D.C. and is open to any department chair or head.
 
NCA Doctoral Honors Seminar — July 18-21, 2013
NCA Doctoral Honors Seminars (DHS) bring together approximately 30 promising graduate students with distinguished researchers to discuss current topics within the discipline. Visit the 2013 DHS site here for the full call for submissions and submission information.

Institute for Faculty Development  - July 21-27, 2013
Also known as the “Hope Conference,” this event provides participants the opportunity to focus on topics of communication that may inspire undergraduate teaching or research.

NCA/AFA Summer Conference on Argumentation — August 1-4, 2013
Co-sponsored by the National Communication Association, the American Forensic Association, and the University of Utah, the conference brings together scholars interested in all aspects of argumentation.

National Freedom of Speech Week - October 21-27, 2013
Consistent with its Credo for Free and Responsible Communication in a Democratic Society, NCA celebrates National Freedom of Speech Week (NFSW) each October.

National Science and Engineering Festival - 2014
NCA is an official partner of the USA Science & Engineering Festival. The month-long celebration, designed to stimulate interest in science and technology, culminates with an expo Washington, D.C.
