B) Uploading Papers

Uploading Papers if you are on a Discussion Panel

Presenters who are on a Discussion Panel must upload their revised paper or extended abstract by October 15, 2004.  Once uploaded, these papers will be available online for program attendees to read in advance of the program.  NCA recognizes that since the paper will be made available online, you may choose to upload an abstract rather than the entire paper.  Some journal editors do consider online posting of papers a publication.

To upload Discussion Panel papers:

1.  Visit the online convention program at http://convention.allacademic.com/nca2004/.

2.  Click “Upload a Paper”.

3.  Enter your User ID and Password.  If you forget these, please click on the link above to retrieve them via email.

4.  After you have logged in, select “Upload a revised or extended abstract” from the menu.

5.  You will be asked to choose if you would like to opt out of the CD-ROM available for sale at the Chicago convention.  Please see more information below on opting out.

6.  Select Continue.  You will then be able to browse for the file saved on your home computer and select the format of the file.  Please note that file size is limited to 2MB.  Larger files will need to be condensed.

7.  Select “Upload” and the paper uploading process will be complete.

Uploading an updated version of your paper (even if you are not on a Discussion Panel)

If you have revised the paper you originally submitted for the convention, you may upload a more recent version of the paper.  Two important things to note:

·        The Chair and Respondent on your program will have online access to your paper prior to the convention.

·        Your paper, unless you “opt out” (see below), will be included on a Paper CD-ROM that will be available for purchase at the NCA Convention.

ALL PAPER SESSION UPLOADS WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL OCTOBER 20.

C) Opting out for CD-ROM

NCA will again be offering a CD-ROM for sale at the convention that contains convention papers.  If you would prefer not to have your paper included on this CD, you MUST go online and OPT OUT before October 20.

NCA recognizes that some editors may consider the inclusion of a paper on the NCA Convention Papers CD a publication. Therefore, if you are planning to submit your paper for publication, you have the ability of “opting out” of having your paper included on the CD.

Follow these steps to OPT OUT of the CD-ROM:

1.  Visit the online convention program at http://convention.allacademic.com/nca2004/.

2.  Click on the “Opt out of CD ROM”.

Please check the box located on the screen and select continue.  IF YOU DO NOT CHECK THE BOX YOUR PAPER WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE CD-ROM.

6.  You can then close the window.

7.  YOU MUST OPT OUT BY OCTOBER 20, 2004.

D) Chair and Respondent paper retrieval

If you are chairing or serving as a respondent to a paper panel, please begin retrieving papers at http://convention.allacademic.com/nca2004/.  Please note that the paper presenters have until October 20 to upload a more recent version of their paper.

To retrieve papers for your panels if you are serving as a chair or respondent:

1.  Visit the online convention program at http://convention.allacademic.com/nca2004/.

2.  Click on “Read Papers as Chair/Respondent”.

3.  Enter your User ID and Password.  If you forget these, please click on the link above to retrieve them via email.

4.  After you have logged in, select the option to read papers from the menu.  You will be asked to select one panel at a time if you are chairing or responding in multiple panels.

E) Paper reviewer comments

Paper reviews can be retrieved.  To access reviewer comments:

1.  Visit the online convention program at http://convention.allacademic.com/nca2004/.

2.  Click on “View your Reviews”.

3.  Enter your User ID and Password.  If you forget these, please click on the link above to retrieve them via email.

4.  Select the reviews option from the menu.  You will be asked to select one panel at a time if you submitted multiple papers or panels.

Discussion panel papers/extended abstracts will be available to view on October 18, 2004.  To view the papers of a session you are interested in attending:

1.  Visit http://convention.allacademic.com/nca2004/.

2.  Using the empty search field box in the upper right hand side of the screen, search for the discussion panel by the last name of a participant, author provided subject keywords, or by session title.  When searching, remember that fewer words in the field will yield better results.

3.  If browsing, utilize the browsing options in the lower left portion of the screen.  You may browse by title, unit/division, or author.

4.  After locating a session that you are interested in attending, select the session by clicking on the title of the session.

5.  You will be provided with paper titles and authors that are participating in the session.  If the program is a special Discussion Panel, you will be able to read the paper or extended abstract by clicking on the title of the paper.
