Units are the heart of NCA

NCA is comprised of several types of units that represent the substantive, professional, and representative interests of its members.

The NCA units plan convention programs and workshops, disseminate information via newsletter or Spectra, offer awards, and sponsor other special interest activities. Each Division and Section has two representatives on the NCA Legislative Assembly. Members are encouraged to participate in unit activities by attending the business meetings and volunteering to serve.

Each NCA member may affiliate with a maximum of three units at no additional charge. Additional affiliations may be selected for a fee of $5 each.  There is no charge for any Caucus affiliation.

Divisions provide a forum for members who share subject-matter interests.

Sections provide a forum for members who share a common educational or vocational setting.  The NCA Sections are:

Caucuses represent the needs of members with special interest concerns of a particular demographic or sociallydefined segment of the total NCA membership, cutting across both division and section lines and seeking to realize the objectives specified in NCA's Affirmative Action Statement. In addition to the three unit affiliations included in membership, members may affiliate with caucuses at no additional charge.
